Known issues with the FANTIC Caballero 500

An (incomplete) list of problems or limitations known to us regarding the FANTIC Caballero 500. This collection is intended by riders for riders and provides an overview as well as guidance on how to resolve these issues.

We are happy to update this list and include additional contributions and user experiences:

Sprocket carrier playWorn cush drive rubber dampers2019–2020Replace dampers with the improved version 07728005 (older faulty version: 04422005). Alternatively or additionally, increase thickness of the aluminium flanges on the carrier (e.g. using heat-shrink tubing).
Rear shock squeakingLinkage bearings corroded and stiff, especially with off-road useallClean and lubricate linkage and bearings regularly; optionally install grease nipples.
Tail light LEDs failingWater ingress causing LED corrosionallReplace tail light (04598005) or solder in new LEDs.
High beam switch defectiveWater ingress, intermittent connection2019–2020Upgrade to handlebar switch assembly from model year 2021 onward.
