Known issues with the FANTIC Caballero 500
An (incomplete) list of problems or limitations known to us regarding the FANTIC Caballero 500. This collection is intended by riders for riders and provides an overview as well as guidance on how to resolve these issues.
We are happy to update this list and include additional contributions and user experiences:

| Cylinder head gasket leaking | Air from the expansion tank enters the cylinder’s cooling system, causing local overheating | 2019–2020 | Install upgraded expansion tank valve and apply software update for earlier fan activation (service measure by FANTIC). |
| Sprocket carrier play | Worn cush drive rubber dampers | 2019–2020 | Replace dampers with the improved version 07728005 (older faulty version: 04422005). Alternatively or additionally, increase thickness of the aluminium flanges on the carrier (e.g. using heat-shrink tubing). |
| Rear shock squeaking | Linkage bearings corroded and stiff, especially with off-road use | all | Clean and lubricate linkage and bearings regularly; optionally install grease nipples. |
| Tail light LEDs failing | Water ingress causing LED corrosion | all | Replace tail light (04598005) or solder in new LEDs. |
| High beam switch defective | Water ingress, intermittent connection | 2019–2020 | Upgrade to handlebar switch assembly from model year 2021 onward. |
| Indicators remain permanently lit | Fault in the ABS control unit | unknown | Replace ABS control unit for ABS warning light (08607005). |
