The Battery Guard is an important and useful aid to protect the battery from damaging deep discharge .
Navigation devices, cell phones and on-board sockets consume power all the time, even when they are not being actively used. There is often an unpleasant surprise when the engine starts – the battery has been discharged too much, the starter motor no longer turns or only turns reluctantly, the engine cannot be started.
This problem can be solved easily and reliably with the help of the Battery Guard. The control unit of the Battery Guard is connected directly to the battery terminals, and the electrical loads are then connected to the Battery Guard. The control unit has an adjustable, ten-stage switch: each stage corresponds to a voltage value. This level, set by the driver, defines the remaining capacity of the battery, below which the Battery Guard interrupts the power supply to the electrical consumer. This ensures that has sufficient capacity to start the vehicle.
The electrical consumers can be operated without hesitation at continuous plus and the annoying switch-off at a stop is avoided.
The compact and waterproof device can be easily stowed under the seat, for example.
Details
With 120 watts, the Battery Guard provides enough power for all common chargers, navigation devices, additional instruments, lighting or mobile refrigerators. The integrated fuse prevents a possible overload. Built-in overvoltage protection ensures the safe operation of all connected devices.
- The internal consumption (0.08mA) is so low that the device can remain permanently connected to the vehicle. With an average motorcycle battery with 10Ah, it would take 4 years to reach a residual capacity of 50%.
- The 10 switching steps correspond to the following cut-off voltages:
[0] | 13,6V |
[1] | 13,3V |
[2] | 13,1V |
[3] | 12,9V |
[4] | 12,7V |
[5] | 12,5V |
[6] | 12,3V |
[7] | 12,1V |
[8] | 11,9V |
[9] | 11,7V |
-
The restart voltage is 0.3V above the selected switch-off voltage.
- For a remaining battery capacity of 80% / 20%, the following switching levels must be set:
- Lead-acid battery: [5] / [9]
- Lithium-ion battery: [1] / [3]
- The Battery Guard can also be operated in reverse, e.g. in conjunction with a battery charger. In this case, however, there is no voltage cut-off.
